So that you can enjoy the Snow Running Sierra Nevada experience to the fullest, we answer the most common questions that you have asked us over the years.
Before the event:
Yes, in fact, if you are sure that you are going to join a mountain federation in the year of the competition, please register as a member. If you do not do so when you register, you will not recover the difference in price later.
But if you register as a member and then do not join the competition year, you will have to go to the incident queue and you will have to pay the amount corresponding to the difference in the rate for non-members on the date on which you registered + €5.00 for management fees:
Examples:
Registration from 09/24/24 to 10/04/24: +€10.00 + €5.00 = €15.00
Registration from 10/05/24 to 11/29/24: +€14.00 + €5.00 = €19.00
Registration from 11/30/24 to 01/15/25: +€17.00 + €5.00 = €22.00
Micro-crampons permitted for Snow Running competitions must have at least 10 metal spikes of 8/10mm distributed between the toe and the heel. Shoes with built-in crampons are allowed as long as they have at least 10 metal spikes of 8/10mm.
For your safety, NEVER use this type (photo) as they are for walking only. They will not give you enough grip for the test and you are very likely to lose them along the way with the consequent risk of injury.

Yes you can, but you will also need an additional red tail light.
Yes, if you see that you are going to arrive just in time or finally you cannot participate but you want to have the souvenirs of the participant’s bag, you can delegate someone else to pick it up.
To do so, you will have to leave a photo of your ID card and your federation card if you are registered as a federation member.
No, the rules are very clear on this point. The bib number is personal and non-transferable.
This decision will be taken at the meeting with the technical jury on the day of the race. You should therefore pay attention to the briefing that will be published on the website www.snowrunning.es on the day of the race from 17.00 h onwards.
Remember that the race takes place in the High Mountains. Don’t skimp on warm clothing. Better to leave it in the car or in the cloakroom if you don’t need it than not to have it and find yourself in temperatures as low as -20º as in 2023.
During the event:
The Sierra Nevada road can experience major traffic delays due to the high volume of visitors to the ski resort, especially on weekends.
To make sure you arrive on time for the start, we recommend picking up your bib and participant bag on Friday afternoon in Granada whenever possible.
If you are heading up on Saturday, start your climb from Granada from 3:15 PM onwards. This will help you avoid much of the usual waiting time on the road to the resort.
Would you prefer to forget about the road, snow chains, and parking?
The organization’s bus service is available on the registration platform, allowing you to travel up and down Sierra Nevada comfortably and safely, without worrying about road conditions or finding a parking spot.
Check the schedules and book your seat on the registration platform.
Free access for Snow Running participants will ONLY be available from 3:30 PM on the day of the event, provided there are still free spots at that time.
When you arrive at the ski resort, head to level -3 and take an entry ticket.
To leave, show your race number and ticket at the office located next to the level -3 exit, and they will open the barrier for you.
Yes, they are as follows for both the open/popular and classic options. Although if you train, the cut-off times are designed so that you can complete the course even if you are walking briskly:
Km 2.2 – Maribel intersection with Levante (2,503m) 7:15 PM
Km 5.7 – Borreguiles (2,700m) next to the First Aid Station at 7:55 PM
Km 12.7 – Pradollano Finish Line (2,100m) 9:30 PM
Our priority is always participant safety. In the 15 editions held so far, we have never had to cancel the event due to changes in weather conditions.
Even so, we monitor weather developments very closely before and during the race. If conditions require it, the technical jury may decide, even right before the start, to modify the route to ensure it is as safe as possible.
Any changes will be communicated to participants through the organization’s official channels.
No, the use of trekking poles is not permitted in this race.
You can download the track/GPX file from the website www.snowrunning.es on the day of the event. It will be included in the briefing.
Because the race takes place in high mountains with conditions that can be very changeable and extreme, the final route always has to be decided on the day of the event.
Yes, we will provide it to you in the briefing that will be published on the website www.snowrunning.es on the day of the event from 5:00 PM onwards.
Yes, there will be a cloakroom near the start of the race. You can see the exact location on the Snow Running Sierra Nevada App.
Additionally, showers will be available after the race. Please check the exact location on the Snow Running Sierra Nevada App.
We always publish the full event albums on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/snowrunningsn/ as soon as the photographers send us the images. Please be patient.
Due to the nature of the race being held at sunset, at night, and often with wind, fog, and snowfall, it is not possible to take personalized photos of everyone, but our timekeeper will always capture you in the finish line video, which you can download on our Snow Running App.
Spectators / Companions:
You can enjoy the start and finish from the spectator area located in Pradollano. And if you want to experience the race from closer up, you can also access the middle section of the route.
To do so, you can purchase the Fan Pack, which includes:

A return gondola ticket for pedestrians (ski equipment is not permitted).

A bacon and cheese sandwich, or a vegetarian alternative.

A soft drink.

Hot broth.

Escort by event staff from the entrance of the Al-Andalus gondola to the intermediate aid station at Borreguiles.
Event staff will meet you at the entrance of the Al-Andalus gondola at 6:45 PM to accompany you to Borreguiles, where you will be able to cheer on the runners as they pass through the aid station.
Participants can purchase the Fan Pack for their companions through the registration platform.
Yes. From the Snow Running Sierra Nevada App, you will be able to follow the participants live and check their progress at each of the course checkpoints.
This way, you can keep track of where your runner is and stay tuned for their arrival at the finish line, even if you are not along the route.
